  REVISED THE CONSTRUCTION OF RUNWAY END SAFETY AREA (RESA) AND
REINSTALLATION OF APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEM OF RUNWAY 03/21
AT MAE FAH LUANG-CHIANG RAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

1  INTRODUCTION

This section supplements the following portion(s) of the AIP: AD

1  With effect from 2 November 2023 at 0100 UTC to 26 February 2024 at 2259 UTC, the purpose of this AIRAC AIP Supplement is to inform all concerned of the airport construction programme at Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport. The construction programme includes the construction of 240 m RESA and reinstallation of Approach Lighting System at each end of runway.

2  DETAILS

2.1  The construction of RESA Runway 21

2.1.1  The construction of RESA Runway 21 and the Approach Lighting System of Runway 03 are completed but will be available when approved by The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and will be promulgated by NOTAM.

2.2  The construction of RESA Runway 03

2.2.1  Stopway and Stopway lights of Runway 03 will be unavailable.

2.2.2  Works schedule and construction of RESA Runway 03 will be operated as follows:

2.3  The declared distances for the remaining portion of Runway 03/21 are as follows:

3  AVAILABILITY OF NAVIGATION AIDS

3.1  Visual Aids

3.1.1  Visual aids, markings and lighting on the movement area will be available except stopway light will be unserviceable during construction.

3.1.2  The Approach Lighting System of Runway 21 will be unserviceable during construction.

3.1.3  The Runway Lighting System for Runway 03/21 will be serviceable.

3.2  Non-Visual Aids

3.2.1  The ILS/DME will be serviceable until further notice by NOTAM

3.2.2  The instrument approach procedures of Runway 03 will be changed to a non-precision approach when the ILS/DME is unserviceable during the construction of RESA Runway 03. The ILS will be shut down tentatively on the start date and end date of this AIRAC AIP Supplement however if there might be any change it will be notified through NOTAM.

3.2.3  The DVOR/DME will be serviceable.

3.2.4  The NDB will be serviceable.

3.3  Any changes to the availability of navigation aids will be promulgated by NOTAM.

4  PRECAUTIONS

4.1  Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport cannot be used as an alternate aerodrome for any flights operating during those periods.

4.2  This AIRAC AIP Supplement applies the runway closure period as same as that of AIRAC AIP Supplement A31/23 - 29 JUN 2023.

6  This AIRAC AIP Supplement supersedes NOTAM A1782/23 (C2691/23) and A2279/23 (C3394/23). This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain current until 26 February 2024 at 2259 UTC. Any changes to this AIRAC AIP Supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
