  INSTALLATION OF AUTOMATED WEATHER OBSERVING SYSTEMS (AWOS)
AT NAKHON SI THAMMARAT AIRPORT (VTSF)

1   INTRODUCTION

This section supplements the following portion(s) of the AIP: AD

1  With effect from 7 September 2023 at 0130 UTC to 9 January 2024 at 2200 UTC, this AIRAC AIP Supplement is to inform all concerned of the installation of automated weather observing systems (AWOS) at Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport (VTSF).

2  INSTALLATION DETAILS

2.1  The AWOS installation will be carried out in airside at runway 01/19 as detailed below:

2.1.1  The AWOS 01 (08° 31' 59.41" N, 099° 56' 35.27" E) and cables (AWOS 01 N/S/E/W) installation will be conducted 22 metres away from the windsock, 330 metres away from the threshold and 100 metres away from the runway centreline.

2.1.2  The new AWOS 19 (08° 32' 46.99" N, 099° 56' 40.15" E) and cables (AWOS 19 N/S/E/W) installation will be conducted 4 metres away from the existing AWOS 19 (using the location of the original transmissometer as the referent point), 300 metres away from the threshold and 108 metres away from the runway centreline.

2.2  The installation works will be performed daily between 0130 - 1000 UTC and 1500 - 2200 UTC except when scheduled flights are operated.

2.3  Safety plan during installation period

2.3.1  All vehicles and machinery in worksite will be equipped with 90 x 90 cm orange and white checkered flags or flashing yellow lights.

2.3.2  The installation locations will be demarcated by highly visible barriers painted in alternate bands of red and white or orange and white.

2.3.3  Personnel in worksite are required to wear a reflective safety vest to meet safety requirements.

4  This AIRAC AIP Supplement will remain current until 9 January 2024 at 2200 UTC. Any change to this AIRAC AIP Supplement will be notified through NOTAM.
