  OVERLAY OF RUNWAY 12/30 AND TAXIWAY PAVEMENTS AND REVISION OF AIRFIELD LIGHTING SYSTEMS AT UDON THANI AIRPORT

1  INTRODUCTION

This section supplements the following portion(s) of the AIP: AD

1  With effect from 3 June 2022 at 0000 UTC to 30 September 2022 at 2359 UTC, this AIP Supplement is to inform all concerned of overlay of Runway 12/30 and taxiway pavements and revision of airfield lighting systems at Udon Thani Airport. The details are as follows:

2  CONSTRUCTION DETAILS

2.1  The construction works at Udon Thani Airport including overlay of Runway 12/30 and taxiway pavements and revision of airfield lighting systems will be carried out by phase areas.

2.2  Runway 12/30 and taxiways will be closed in relation to construction on each phase area.

2.2.1  During construction on the phase of Runway 12, a portion of 500 metres from the threshold of Runway 12 and taxiway D will be closed. The closed areas will be blocked off by frangible barricades which painted in alternate bands of red and white the sections of the closed areas.

2.2.2  During construction on the phase of Runway 30, a portion of 500 metres from the threshold of Runway 30 and taxiway A will be closed. The closed areas will be blocked off by frangible barricades which painted in alternate bands of red and white the sections of the closed areas.

2.3  The declared distances of Runway 12/30 during the construction period are as follows:

2.4  Machinery and equipment for construction will be located in the following locations:

2.4.1  Location 1: 150 metres from the holding position of taxiway L (17°23'21.34''N 102°46'34.82''E) and warning with flag and lighted.

2.4.2  Location 2: 50 metres from the holding position of taxiway M (17°23'24.13''N 102°46'29.24''E) and warning with flag and lighted.

2.4.3  Location 3: Near taxiway D (17°23'28.02''N 102°46'26.29''E) and warning with flag and lighted.

2.5  During the construction period, the temporary precision approach path indicator (PAPI) will be in use at Runway 12/30 as indicated below:

2.5.1  Runway 12 is equipped with temporary 3-degree PAPI with VASIS MEHT of 53.57 feet at 333 metres away from runway threshold and 61 metres to the left of runway center line. (17°23'23.07''N 102°46'57.76''E)

2.5.2  Runway 30 is equipped with temporary 3-degree PAPI with VASIS MEHT of 52.98 feet at 333 metres away from runway threshold and 64 metres to the left of runway center line. (17°22'59.33''N 102°47'37.84''E)

2.6  Instrument Landing System (ILS) will be unserviceable during the construction on the phase of Runway 30 and simple approach lighting systems (SALS) will be unserviceable during the construction on the phase of Runway 12.

2.7   Instrument Approach Chart for Runway 12/30 will be unusable during the construction period and following ATC instruction.

2.8  The construction works will be performed daily from 0000 UTC to 2359 UTC and Personnel will clear of runway during flight operation. During construction period, pilots are advised to take cautions when operating near the construction areas

2.9   Lighted red cross (X) will be installed at 300 metres away from the start of construction area at night. Vehicles and machinery in the site are all marked by 90 x 90 cm. orange and white checker-red flags. Construction areas will be demarcated by highly visible barricades painted in alternate bands of red and white or orange and white. Personnel in the site are required to wear a reflective safety vest to meet safety requirements.
